Nestled in the charming and scenic setting of Morpeth, Cragside Tea Shop offers visitors a peaceful retreat to enjoy a relaxed café experience within the grounds of the National Trust estate. This welcoming café is uniquely situated in a courtyard surrounded by dramatic cliff faces and tranquil woodland, making it a perfect spot to unwind after exploring the beautiful estate.

The atmosphere at Cragside Tea Shop is both cozy and inviting, with comfortable new seating that has been praised by returning visitors. It offers a pleasant balance of indoor and outdoor seating, accommodating dog owners and families alike, though some note that pram access can be a little tight. The menu, reflective of its National Trust heritage, features classic, hearty café fare including a variety of cakes, sandwiches, and light snacks that pair wonderfully with their standout hot drinks. According to guests, the coffee here is particularly exceptional—rich and satisfying, it offers just the right warm embrace on a cool day. Its much better then it used to be, new chairs ate comfortable. Its a tight squeeze if you have a pram, and not loads of seating for it ypu dont have a dog. Food is usual national trust food. Overpriced for what is served. However they do serve fantastic hot drinks!

Beautiful cafe set in a wonderful courtyard surrounded by a cliff face and woodland. We called in for a coffee and cake. There is a nice selection of cakes, sandwiches and snacks as well as various drink, hot and cold. The cafe is on the ground floor so easy access for everyone. There's inside or outside seating and the whole place is clean and very pleasant. Toilets and a gift shop are also located in the courtyard so everything you need to get you set for a visit around Cragside or comfortable before you leave. Staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Nice place to recharge!

A very peaceful cafe with a wide range of foods available to vegetarians and anyone without an allergy. After reading through an extensive menu, I was left eating potato, cheese and bacon wedges. Couldn't even have the soup of the day as that contained gluten. Come on National Trust, you cater for those who CHOOSE not to eat meat, but for us that have a medical condition preventing us from eating gluten containing gluten. It isn't catered for!!

Always get a warm welcome, we visit regularly the estate, and call in for refreshments, good cup of coffee, the place is always cept clean , children dogs and wasps always welcome ,had a great visit to the estate this time lots of fungi around , mostly the ones that would make you sick so don't touch if your not 100percent sure of what you find , my grandchildren love to learn about nature and survival, enjoy , look down on occasion, it's amazing what you can find

The cafe itself is lovely, the staff are friendly and that was good. I was pleased to see a few vegan options (the vegan cheese and tomato toastie was really nice - please always keep this on the menu). But what lost it a star was that the potato wedges were unfortunately overcooked making them chewy and the toastie being sourdough bread meant it was harder to eat than other breads making it more of a disappointing meal. Also if they could have a vegan cake option that isn't flapjack or tiffin like but something like a vegan chocolate cake (or make the Yule log cake vegan) that would make it five stars. Would come again.

The Parsnip soup was a bit too thick, but even so, it tasted wonderful. The fruit scone was fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was calm and lovely.

Lovely tea rooms. Both the large one and the smaller one. Great choices of hot drinks & food.
